Saturday's EC2055 block party had food, games, races and arts and crafts. But, it was the music that drew the most attention. Shane Owens got things going during the morning, and Sawyer Brown topped off the activities that afternoon.

The Court Square in Blakely was bustling with activities and hundreds of people all day Saturday during the second annual EC2055 Labor Day weekend Block Party.

While three sides of the square were lined with food and arts and crafts vendors, the north side was the stage setting for the day's music.

Dothan's rising country music artist Shane Owens got things rolling that morning entertaining the crowd with country music "with a little kick to it," including songs from his premier album — "Let's get it on."

The main attraction — Sawyer Brown — took to the stage that afternoon for an encore performance of their show from last year's Block Party. Formed in 1981, Sawyer Brown has had over 50 songs on the Billboard Hot Country top 40 lists, including three singles that climbed to No. 1.

When everyone's attention wasn't focused on the stage or the food vendors, they were cheering on the competitors in the bed races, tricycle races and hotdog eating contest.

The Bed Race winners: King Coil Award (Fastest): ECHS Video Productions;Golden Spring Award (Best Bed Design): Bank of Early; Best Use of Technology: Bainbridge College.
