Industry Target Recommendations
Selected industry targets seek to complement and build upon existing strengths in the Early economy. The targets are meant to be realistic and feasible with a minimum of up-front area investment. The targets are also selected to provide the County with solid rationale to seek community support for further activities. Industry target selection is a multi-phase assessment process to identify those industries that provide optimal employment and wage growth opportunities while matching the community's unique character, strength and vision.
Industry target selection includes the following:
• Local economic assessment.
• Field evaluation of existing sites and buildings.
• Location quotient analysis to reveal local industry specialization.
• Field evaluation of physical factors.
• Evaluation of local institutional strengths and support.
• Field survey to assess local business climate.
• Evaluation of community fit to new and expanding industry.
• Assessment of industry life cycle position and match to community (mature, emerging, cutting-edge).
• Shift-share analysis to identify local competitive advantages.
• Evaluation of workforce demographics.
• Consideration of global economic trends
